From our family farms in the fertile lands of the South West of Western Australia, Omega Walnuts grow walnuts of the highest quality and freshness.
Our raw walnuts are carefully processed on site using Omega’s uniquely designed process to preserve the delicate omega oils – resulting in a truly fresh tasting, crunchy, sweet and creamy nut!
About Omega
We have been growing our walnuts in the rich horticultural areas of Manjimup and Nannup since the beginning of the century.
The latitude of the South West of WA is equivalent to the traditionally great walnut growing areas of the Northern hemisphere such as California, France, Italy, Iran and Turkey, yet the Southern hemisphere produces only about 3% of the world’s production.
Walnuts are one of the oldest foods known to man and archeological excavation of Neolithic sites in South West France has uncovered roasted walnut shells, indicating they were on the menu of Homo Sapiens some 8.000 years ago!
Like all other products of nature, only nurturing of the soils with the right balances of inputs, together with astute husbandry of the trees and meticulous processing, will produce the best quality and freshest walnuts.
There are few products on the planet with better ratios of Omega 3 and 6, but to retain these delicate and beneficial oils, care is needed to preserve the protective pellicle (skin or membrane) of the kernel.
Our unique cracking process tries to ensure minimal damage to this pellicle and thereby retain these precious oils. The benefit of these Omega antioxidant oils to our heart, brain and general well-being is well documented (see some research articles under our ’Health’ section). And that is why Omega Walnuts works hard to ensure you get the most out of each and every nut. Not only that, but the preservation of the oils ensure a rich creamy taste.
Twice winning the prestigious WA Delicious Award voted on by Chefs is testimony to the quality of our nuts.
Walnut Information

SHELLED WALNUTS WARNING:
Our kernel inspection is thorough, but not perfect. To separate shell fragments during our cracking process, we utilise three aspirators and a colour sorter along with a human inspection table under strong light. Despite these detailed measures, shell fragments occasionally evade our detection, thus our warning to be careful of shell fragments stated on our packaging. So please be mindful when enjoying our walnuts!

WALNUT STORAGE & DISTRIBUTION INFORMATION:
Walnuts should be kept chilled at all possible times until enjoyed–they are susceptible to both heat and light. Down on our farm we have an 130 tonne chilled storage facility, so our walnuts go from cracking and packing either directly into cold storage, or are shipped immediately. During the shipping process, we make sure they are kept chilled every step of the way. From the Manjimup to Perth journey, to the storage facility at our primary Perth distribution centre, and even on our rail freight to our customers in the East, dedicated refrigeration ensures our walnuts maintain the highest level of freshness. However, once our walnuts are delivered to our customers ands retailers, it is out of our control as to whether they remain chilled or not. We suggest refrigerating them at home to keep them as fresh and best tasting as possible. Enjoy!
